POWDER is the hot word of the month! We have been fortunate to have an Amazing February snowfall. We have received over 7 FEET in the past few weeks. The grins on the faces of all who are riding the bus to the base area, to the smiles plastered across faces as they take one of the most epic runs in Butte history! Crested Butte is also open “Wall to Wall” which means now is your time to get some Third Bowl action!
Event Highlights: Subaru Freeride Series kicks off from Crested Butte, CO February 12-16. The Crested Butte portion of the tour includes both a 2-star and 4-star Freeride World Qualifier, with the 4-star qualifier available for live stream via subarufreerideseries.com. “Crested Butte is one of the founding mountains that encouraged the sport of freeskiing,” said Bryan Barlow Subaru Freeride Series event director. As most may know, we have been lucky to have receive several large snow storms for up to 7′ (yes feet) of new snow in the past few weeks. Valentine’s Day: What better place to take your sweetie than an epic ski trip to the mountains? Ski some legendary terrain during the day and then enjoy a 5-star meal at night. Watch and Support Crested Butte Locals in the Sochi 2014 Olympics. Aaron Blunck will be representing us in the Men’s Halfpipe and David Chodunksky will be representing us in the Men’s Slalom and GS. Initiative to Ban Single-Use Plastic Bags in Mt. Crested Butte, Crested Butte, and Gunnison. There was a Public Forum held February 11th at Montanyas’ Rum Distillery at 6pm. Some of the information shared was other Colorado towns that had successfully implemented this ban. It is a collaborative effort that includes volunteers and students from Western State University and would impact the local Crested Butte Storefronts as well as the larger chains such as Walmart and City Market in Gunnison. Vacation Renters Want More Services: As the vacation rental business becomes increasingly popular across the world and especially in resort areas such as Crested Butte, we are finding that guests want and expect more services. It appears that they want the privacy and convenience of a private property; yet are looking for similar amenities that those would find in a hotel.
